MBBS Career in Pakistan: Scope, Salary & Jobs 2025
Choosing MBBS as a career in Pakistan is a dream for many students who study Biology in FSc Pre-medical. This 5 years degree program, also known as Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, is not only a symbol of respect in society but also a highly paying profession in both Government and Private sectors. Many students aim for this field due to the broad market and the chance to become Life Saviors or what many call Maisha in our culture. After completing Intermediate, students can take admission into medical institutes across the country. From my own journey and those around me, I’ve seen how it’s a popular field among the young generation, despite the challenges it brings.
Although MBBS has always been seen as an ever-green field, recent trends show that the number of graduates is increasing rapidly. However, Pakistan, being an underdeveloped country, often fails to produce enough jobs for these graduates. Some do get better opportunities, while many struggle to find a good position and end up accepting low pay packages just to continue their profession.
Even though the demand for medical facilities and doctors will never stop, the scope must be matched with enough employment options. In some cases, people join just for the respect and bonus of the field, not realizing the difficulties ahead. Still, despite all, many continue because saving a human being is beyond just a job—it’s a calling.

Jobs
An MBBS doctor has multiple job options. They usually work in hospitals, medical centres, or research institutes. The role can vary from treating patients to participating in medical studies. Some even go into teaching. The medical profession is flexible, allowing doctors to shift into different positions based on their interests and career goals. From what I’ve seen, those who are dedicated often find the job environment both challenging and fulfilling.
To become a doctor, students need to study core subjects such as human anatomy, cytology, medicine, physiology, pathology, chemistry, and forensic medicine. Later in the degree, they also learn about community medicine, dermatology, paediatrics, anaesthesiology, and orthopaedics. These fields give them a strong base and prepare them for real-world responsibilities. The MBBS programme is tough but designed to equip students with the knowledge needed for real jobs in healthcare.
