The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government recently unveiled plans for the 2025 Free Laptop Scheme, an initiative designed to support outstanding students through technology. This scheme will facilitate the distribution of laptops to 25,000 brilliant students, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing educational resources and fostering an environment conducive to academic excellence. In addition to general education, the scheme also covers students from professional colleges, including medical and engineering institutions, reflecting a comprehensive approach to include a wide range of disciplines. Moreover, top achievers, specifically the top 10 position holders from the intermediate examinations of all KPK boards, will also be recipients of these laptops.

During a significant meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat and chaired by the Chief Minister himself, details of this ambitious project were discussed. Present at the meeting were the Additional Chief Secretary and administrative secretaries from various departments. This initiative is part of the broader Naway Sahar Scheme (translated as New Dawn Scheme), under which the government has earmarked a substantial budget of 1 billion rupees. The laptops, each valued at approximately Rs. 40,000, aim to equip students with essential tools to enhance their learning capabilities. Furthermore, the discussion also touched upon other special initiatives under consideration, aimed at promoting technical education and enhancing opportunities for women’s education. These discussions reflect the administration’s holistic approach to governance and development.

Eligibility for this scheme is specific; students enrolled in semester-based programs must have achieved at least 75% marks, while those in annual system programs must have secured 65%. The focus is particularly on students from government schools across KPK, with a special 2% quota reserved for disabled students pursuing the BS program.

The scheme’s extension to include students of professional colleges marks a significant enhancement from previous initiatives. The Chief Minister, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, highlighted this expansion as part of the government’s broader strategy to tackle major societal challenges like unemployment, illiteracy, poverty, fatal diseases, and energy issues. These efforts are expected to have a transformative impact on the region’s socio-economic landscape.

Overall, the KPK Students Free Laptop Scheme 2025 is a testament to the government’s resolve to empower its youth by integrating technological advancements into education. This initiative not only aims to enhance the academic resources of students but also hopes to inspire them to contribute effectively to their communities and the broader world.
